Authorities say a Miami woman shot and killed her boyfriend before turning the gun on herself.
Police did not release the identities of the couple found dead in the apparent murder-suicide Wednesday afternoon inside the efficiency in the 1800 block of Southwest 11th Terrace.
But friends and neighbors said the man was Americo Eustaquio, a 30-year-old who worked at a commercial bakery in Northeast Miami. They knew his girlfriend as Ana Patricia, a 39-year-old who worked at a Walgreens near downtown.
The couple dated for about three years and lived together at the address for about a year, according to Kenia Reyes, a Miami police spokeswoman.
``Detectives don't know what prompted the shooting,'' Reyes said, adding that the couple did not appear to have a history of domestic violence.
The couple's friends couldn't understand it either.
``They seemed very loving and nurturing, both of them,'' said Yamilet Herrera, who knew Eustaquio from their jobs at Grandpa's International Bakery. ``She'd come into work and bring him food. They never seemed to fight.''
The bodies were discovered Wednesday afternoon after Eustaquio's boss called police Wednesday when he failed to show up for work.
Orly Stern, the bakery owner, said her employee of six years was dedicated to his job. She said she was so surprised when he didn't show up for work or call in that she drove to his apartment looking for him.
``I called the jails and the hospitals before coming,'' Stern said as police interviewed neighbors outside. ``I was so worried.''
Police found the bodies in the rear of the efficiency. No other information was available late Wednesday. Authorities planned to contact next of kin before releasing their identities.
Neighbors said they heard nothing unusual on Tuesday night.
``No gunfire. Nothing,'' said Wallace Flores, who lives next door. ``I never once saw them arguing or fighting.''
