NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The man who jumped off an overpass to his death on I-140 is a murder suspect of a woman killed on Saturday afternoon.
Detectives with the New Hanover Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 3:30 p.m. They shut down parts of I-140 and North College Road for about two hours while investigators collected evidence.
Deputies said a family member showed up and helped lead detectives to the second scene.
"She happened to be driving by and saw her sister's car parked on top of the over pass and stopped and spoke with the deputies," explained Deputy Jason Augst. "[She] eventually led them to the apartment which is where they discovered the second victim."
According to the murdered woman's sister, the man who jumped was the victim's boyfriend. She said the victim's boyfriend had never been violent with her in the past
