HENDERSON, N.C. — Vance County authorities said that an attempted murder-suicide outside a Henderson business Saturday morning left a woman injured and a man dead.
Sheriff Peter White said that around 7:30 a.m., Marcus Antwan Hammie, 26, pulled a gun on Shandria Shaw, 25, outside her workplace, ACS at 145 Technology Lane in Triangle Vance business park. Shaw was shot multiple times.
Hammie, of Henderson, then shot himself once, the sheriff said. He died of his injuries.
Shaw, of Norlina, was flown to Duke University Hospital in Durham, where she was undergoing surgery.
White said that investigators have not yet determined a motive in the case but believe that Shaw and Hammie were in a relationship.
Investigators were talking to the sole witness to the shooting.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?

Shandria worked with my aunt who happened to be at work that morning. This is the same type of stuff I like to blog about, come up with solutions and unify with one another. Let's keep Shandria and her family in prayers, especially her 3 year old son.
