PORTLAND, Ore. - Police spent Thursday at a southeast Portland home investigating what appears to have been a double murder-suicide.

Family and friends dropped by the home, located at Southeast Salmon Street and Southeast 123rd Avenue, throughout the day as officers worked the scene.

A source close to the family said a mother, father and their 4-year-old son were found dead and it appeared the father shot the woman and child and then turned the gun on himself. Police stated that is what they believe happened as well. An 11-year-old daughter was not harmed. It is unclear if she was present.

On Friday, Portland Police Homicide Detectives identified the three decesed persons as 29-year-old Ceantwan Lorenzo Barr, 28-year-old Tameka Yvonne Medina, and 4-year-old Ashawn Medina-Barr.

According to the source, the mother and father were not married but used to live together. However, they had a falling out and she moved out just before Halloween. But he reportedly got in touch with her earlier this week and the family was not heard from after that.

A missing persons report was filed and police showed up outside the home on Wednesday, but did not go inside.

"Officers were out at this residence last night on two separate occasions," said Det. Mary Wheat with the Portland Police Bureau. "They did take a missing person's report but did not have enough information to force entry into the home."

Family members discovered the bodies on Thursday when they entered the home.
