Flower Mound, TX: Fort Worth man sought in connection with Flower Mound girl's death

FLOWER MOUND — A Fort Worth man who police called a "person of interest" in the death of his teenaged girlfriend was an overnight guest at her family’s apartment, according to a search warrant affidavit released Wednesday.

The 16-year-old’s mother and older sister told police that Garrett Cole Gower was the last person seen with his girlfriend, the affidavit states.

Police continued their search Wednesday for Gower, 20, who is believed to be driving a silver 2009 four-door Honda Accord.

His girlfriend, Brittany Munoz, was found Tuesday afternoon in the Munoz family apartment in Flower Mound, police said. Preliminary reports state that the victim had suffered trauma and a weapon was found, but police provided no other details of the injuries.

The affidavit states that Munoz appeared to have suffered wounds to her head. She was found lying in bed on her back with the covers pulled up to her chin, according to the affidavit.

Munoz’s 19-year-old sister discovered her shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Timber Ridge Apartments in the 1700 block of Timber Creek Road. The victim had lived in the apartment with her older sister and 54-year-old mother, police said.

"Detectives have verified that she (Munoz) was last seen early Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.," said Flower Mound police Capt. Wess Griffin on Wednesday.

Authorities said they need to question Gower and they are concerned for him. The Honda Accord that he may be driving could have Texas temporary tags 80P3075 or Texas license plates RKS-810.

Anyone with information on the case should call Flower Mound police at 972-539-0525.

My name is Tanner Gower.

Garrett is driving a CIVIC.
Not an Accord.
