WICHITA, Kansas (KSN) -- A 44-year-old man shot in Wichita early Friday morning has died from his injuries. Police have arrested his ex-wife saying she pulled the trigger.
Doctors at Via Christi St. Francis pronounced John Hazelton dead late Saturday night. Police had arrested Hazelton's estranged wife Friday on suspicion of aggravated battery.
Police say those charges have been upgraded to first degree murder.
Friday morning, police were called to the 12000 block of West 19th Street after Hazelton's ex-wife called 911 reporting a shooting. The couple’s teenage daughter was home at the time of the attack.
Police say they'll forward the case to the district attorney's office early this week and then it will be up to the D.A. to decide if charges will be filed.
