ABBEVILLE, S.C. -- A man who killed his girlfriend and her father in 2006 pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Thursday.
Steven Tinch drove to O’Neals’ Auto Shop in Abbeville County where he pulled out a rifle and shot owner Robert Lawrence O’Neal, 58, who was his girlfriend's father. He then shot and killed 36-year-old Shirley Demore, who worked at her father's business.
Solicitor Jerry Peace said Tinch pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and possession of a deadly weapon during a crime. He was sentenced to 45 years on each murder charge and five years on the weapons charge.
Demore was survived by four sons.
