READING, Pa. - Police in eastern Pennsylvania have charged a man with stabbing his girlfriend to death early Tuesday.
Reading police say they responded just before 2 a.m. to reports of a domestic disturbance and found 39-year-old Maria Albers-Cosme lying on the front steps of a neighbor's home. They say she had been stabbed in the chest in her own home and then walked outside and collapsed. Albers-Cosme was pronounced dead shortly afterward by a Berks County deputy coroner.
Police say 40-year-old Brian Henderson, who lived at the same address, was charged with first- and third-degree murder and aggravated assault. Detectives said he would be arraigned and then taken to Berks County Prison without bail; it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
