CANTON —
A Plain Township man who killed his wife will stay in a local psychiatric hospital.
Stark County Common Pleas Judge Charles E. Brown Jr. accepted a doctor’s recommendation to place Lupco Krstevski in Heartland Behavioral Healthcare in Massillon.
Last month, Brown found Krstevski, 46, of 1126 Lanner St. NW, not guilty by reason of insanity on charges of murder and felonious assault.
Krstevski attacked his 37-year-old wife, Violeta, so violently on Oct. 10, 2008, that she died five days later. At the time, he was suffering delusions and paranoia.
Krstevski could remain institutionalized for the rest of his life.
The judge was required to place him in the least restrictive setting for treatment, while ensuring the public’s safety.
Assistant Stark County Prosecutor Fred Scott and defense attorney April Bible both stipulated to the doctor’s recommendation of Heartland.
Scott said there was concern about whether Heartland would accept Krstevski, but the hospital has agreed to take him as a patient.
In March, before he was restored to mental competency, Krstevski was transferred from Heartland to a psychiatric hospital in Columbus after attacking a male staff member and behaving in a way that made him a danger to patients.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
