(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. Columbus, IN: Motive of Murder Suspect Apprehended Sunday Likely Jealousy
A 46-year-old Columbus man accused of murdering a Greensburg man was apparently a jealous ex-boyfriend of the victim's lover. Clifton Hamilton Cook, Sr. was apprehended in Miami Sunday, where he was arrested shortly before he was scheduled to leave the country for Panama. For almost four years, Cook -- a Cummins office worker -- had dated the woman who lived in the Arrowwood Addition where Gary Joseph Brown was shot early Sunday morning. The 50-year-old victim from Greensburg had been romantically linked with the woman only a few weeks before he was killed. His girlfriend told police she had been receiving harassing text messages from Cook since she began dating Brown. Cook is expected to be extradicted from Florida to Columbus later this week.
