Akron, OH: Boyfriend Wanted in Murder Considered Armed, Dangerous

AKRON, Ohio— A woman is shot and killed inside her home, and police believe her boyfriend is on the run.

Akron police say John W. Pritchard, 52, is considered armed and dangerous, and they are asking for the public's help in getting him off the street.

Pritchard is 5'11", 195 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Akron police want to question him about the shooting death of his girlfriend, Robin Bailey, 52. Police say around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Robin's sister found her shot to death inside her home on Patterson Avenue in Akron.

"Robin was a lady that lived right across the street from us and we would see her in passing, talk about the weather, didn't get into great detail about family life or work problems or anything like that, just a nice, pleasant neighbor," said neighbor Paul Sletten.

"She's a loving neighbor, she'd help you out, she'd say hi when she's outside, she'd come down and we'd go up and see her," said neighbor and friend Tom Lockard.

Lockard says Robin was a good friend of his, but says he did not know much about John Pritchard.

"I met him twice and he didn't want me to stick around the house too much," he said.

Lockard says he never noticed any trouble between the two, but says recently Bailey told Pritchard to move out of the house.

"If there was anything going on in the house, she kept that a secret, she just said that it's time for him to go, that he was no more allowed to be there," said Lockard.

"Neighbors that live next door to them said that they hear yelling, of course I wouldn't hear it living five doors down, but for the most part it was just like a really quiet neighborhood," said neighbor Michelle Jouver.

Police believe Pritchard may be driving Bailey's vehicle. It is a 2011 red Toyota Rav-4. The Ohio license plate reads FCC 6138.

Anyone who sees Pritchard or the car is asked to call the Akron police detective Bureau at (330) 375-2490.
