WASHINGTON -- A 38-year-old man was killed on Thursday after violently struggling with deputies who were assisting in domestic dispute.
St. Mary's County Sheriff's deputies were called to a townhouse on Spinnaker Circle shortly after 3 p.m. to investigate a domestic assault that was in progress, according to a news release.
Because the victim had visible signs of injury, deputies attempted to arrest the suspect, who resisted.
After what officials call a violent struggle between a deputy and the suspect, the deputy shot and killed the suspect, according to the release.
The suspect, who authorities have not identified, was pronounced dead on the scene. The deputy was not seriously injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
