A Commerce City police officer Friday morning shot and killed a knife-wielding man who was described by his girlfriend as suicidal.
The Commerce City Police Department Friday evening identified the dead man as 31-year-old Nathan Done.
At 9:06 a.m., police responded to an emergency call from a woman in a home in the 6900 block of Monaco Street. She said her boyfriend had choked her during an argument the previous night and that he threatened to kill himself if she called the police. She informed officials that he left the house carrying a butcher knife before police arrived.
Officers found Done on the same block, sitting in his car. He then led police on a three-block car chase before abandoning his vehicle and running back into the same house where his girlfriend had been.
The police could hear loud voices and a woman screaming from inside the house. An officer went into the house and shot and killed Done.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
