CLEARWATER, Fla. - A woman from Northern Kentucky has been found dead, buried in the backyard of her boyfriend's home in Clearwater, Florida.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Department on Friday said 24-year-old Shanessa Lynn Chappie was found at the home she shared with 35-year-old William Routenberg.
Detectives began investigating when they received a tip that someone had been killed in unincorporated Clearwater. That tip led detectives to Routenberg's house.
Detectives were able to obtain enough evidence to get a search warrant and served it on Thursday, June 30. During the search, detectives discovered Chappie's body.
Routenberg told detectives he killed Chappie during an argument and then buried her in his backyard.
Chappie lived at Routenberg's house at the time.
Routenberg was charged with first degree murder as well as violation of probation and unrelated drug charges.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
