EL PASO, Texas (AP) _ Officials say a federal court employee in West Texas was kidnapped and killed in Mexico in a failed ransom attempt masterminded by his girlfriend.
The death of Jorge Dieppa in neighboring Ciudad Juarez was confirmed Thursday by Olga Bashbush, spokeswoman for the U.S. consulate in Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas.
The prosecutor’s office in the Mexican state of Chihuahua says Dieppa, 57, was killed after he noticed that one of the kidnappers was a 22-year-old dancer he had been dating since meeting her in a Juarez bar five years ago.
Mexican officials say the kidnappers demanded $10,000 ransom, and the dancer and two other suspects were arrested Monday. A fourth suspect is still at large.

I knew Jorge, and I can guarantee you that the “girlfriend” claim by the woman suspect is a lie. For the Mexican authorities and the media to report bilge like that from a possible perpetrator is unconscionable.
