(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita police say a man found dead over the weekend was killed in an argument over a dog.
Police told Eyewitness News John Tolliver, 47, has been in a fight with his ex-girlfriend over shared property, including a dog.
Investigators say the two had been arguing through a series of text messages. They believe the woman forwarded the texts to another man. Police say that man and another person went to Tolliver's home while he wasn't there and took the dog.
When Tolliver got home and realized the dog was gone, he started texting his ex-girlfriend again. Police believe it was later that night when two suspects went to Tolliver's home and beat him to death. Tolliver's roommate found his body a few hours later.
The ex-girlfriend and two men were arrested and book on first degree murder and burglary charges.
