Former SLED agent Charles Boyette allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend, Mary Ann Cox, Friday afternoon in Moncks Corner before turning the gun on himself.
News 2 has learned Cox broke up with Boyette in early July. Cox filed an incident report on July 19 against the SLED agent and requested that "Boyette not contact her anymore." Later that day, SLED suspended Boyette "indefinitely effective immediately, pending the outcome of [SLED's] investigation."
On July 20, Boyette's attorney contacted SLED's Chief Mark Keel and Boyette resigned.
Around 5:30 Friday, Moncks Corner police responded to a shooting at the South Coast Bank on Main Street. There was another gunshot before authorities arrived. Both 44-year-old Cox and 61-year-old Boyette were pronounced dead on scene.
Michael Roach with the Moncks Corner police department told News 2 that unidentified witnesses are working with the police to piece together the incident. Cox and Boyette were both shot in the lower part of the body.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
