Killeen, TX: Two People Found Dead After Two Hour Standoff Police believe a local couple died in apparent murder suicide Saturday afternoon

KILLEEN(December 4, 2010) - A two and a half hour standoff has ended in Killeen with a couple dead in an apparent murder suicide.

Police say both the man and the woman were suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police were called out to the 4300 block of Mildred just before 1:30p.m. Saturday afternoon on reports of shots being fired.

The police SWAT team entered the home's garage just before 4p.m. after attempting to contact someone inside.

They found a woman inside the garage shot to death, and found the man's body inside the home not long after.

The couple has not been identified, but police do believe this was a murder suicide.

On Friday, police were called out to the same location for a man threatening suicide.

Iduma Elementary School, at 4400 Foster Lane, was locked down as a precaution for almost an hour just before lunch after officers and an ambulance were sent to the man's home, just a couple of blocks away from the school.

The suicidal person never was a threat to the school campus or the students, but the school principal imposed the lock down just to be safe.

A spokesperson for Killeen police said officers were not aware of the lock down until after the incident had ended.
