Portsmouth, Va. - Portsmouth police have arrested 45-year-old Johnny Ray Hubbard of Chesapeake in the death of his estranged wife in her home.
Saturday morning an Isle of Wight County Dispatcher contacted Portsmouth Police after the ID of Hubbard's wife, 60 year-old Beverly Gail, was found at a Dairy Queen in Windsor.
A note stating that she had been murdered accompanied the identification. Officers responded to her home on Reese Drive and found Gail's body.
While Portsmouth Police Detective's and Forensic Units were at the home, the Wilson, North Carolina Police Department contacted Portsmouth Dispatchers in reference to a male who approached a Wilson Officer and claimed responsibility for Gail's death. Hubbard was driving Gail's vehicle at the time.
Hubbard was taken into custody by Wilson police.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
