Carolyn Thomas is known as the “woman without a face.”
A domestic violence survivor, Thomas was shot in the face at close range by her ex-boyfriend, the same man who killed her mother.
His gunshot destroyed more than 80 percent of her face, but it didn’t destroy her voice – or her determination to share her story.
Thomas, who has appeared on national TV shows alongside Oprah and Larry King, will be at Florida State’s Alumni Center at 6 p.m. today to tell her amazing story of survival and triumph.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
