Maryland State Police have issued an arrest warrant for the husband of a woman who was found dead in a fire. Thomas Scherer, 82, of Stevensville will be served with the warrant upon his release from Easton Memorial Hospital. It charges him with first- and second-degree murder and arson. Troopers received a call about 10 a.m. Thursday about a possible assault and fire on Oxbow Drive on Stevensville. Authorities arrived at the house to find it on fire. Magda Scherer, 82, who lived in the house, was found in the main bedroom with blunt force injuries to the back of her head.
