Bond is set at $12 million dollars for a Dolton man charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
Terrence Coulter, 33, is charged with first degree murder in the death of Dana Hayes, 35.
Hayes' body was found March 23 in a wooded area in Thorton. She was beaten to death.
Hayes was last seen alive by her family January 25 after she dropped her son off at Richmond East High School. According to the Cook County State's Attorneys office, on that same day, Hayes and Coulter were seen at a South Holland motel and that is where she was killed.
It is not clear if Hayes had gone to the hotel voluntarily.
Coulter had been scheduled to go on trial for stabbing Hayes more than a dozen times in 2007. She also had an order of protection taken out against him since he was free on bond while awaiting trial.
On January 29, police searched Coulter's home and recovered a gun. He's been jailed on a felony weapons charge ever since.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
