A Holden woman was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center for allegedly shooting to death her estranged boyfriend Friday afternoon, according to a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.
Sherry L. Mitchell, 46, 29761 Pine St., Holden, was arrested and booked on one count of second-degree murder.
The Sheriff’s Office was called at 4:15 p.m. Friday about a shooting on Pine Street in Holden. When deputies arrived at Mitchell’s address, they found Chad Weydert, 38, of La. 1036, dead with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the news release.
Detectives arrested Mitchell, who they said was Weydert’s estranged girlfriend. She allegedly told detectives that she and Weydert had a fight, and that she then shot him in the chest, the release says.
The Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office is scheduled to do an autopsy today to determine official cause of death.
