COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Deputies in Columbus County are investigating two unrelated shooting deaths near Tabor City.
On Christmas Eve, just after 1 a.m., deputies found Rebecca Ann Buffkin, 46, shot to death on her kitchen floor.
Buffkin's boyfriend, Beamon Fowler, 60, who called 911, was on the scene, east of Tabor City. Fowler surrendered, saying he had shot Buffkin in the head with her own handgun, following a dispute.
An autopsy was conducted the same day, confirming that Buffkin died from the gunshot wound.
Fowler is being held at the Columbus County Detention Center without bond.
In a separate, unrelated incident, on Christmas Day, deputies found Gilberto Antonio Segovia, 51, shot to death on the ground at the bottom of his front steps.
The shooting happened just before 12:30 a.m., west of Tabor City.
Segovia's girlfriend was forcefully taken from the home during the incident by an ex, but was able to escape, unharmed.
Authorities are looking for the suspect and two others involved.
Autopsy results are expected in the next few days.
