The deaths of an elderly Honea Path couple has been ruled a murder-suicide, the coroner said Friday.
A granddaughter of Robert and Bertha Beasley, both in their 80s, found them in their home, at 127 Eastview St., Thursday about 2:15 p.m., Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said.
She ran to a neighbor’s home, and authorities were notified, he said.
Found in their bedroom, Beasley is believed to have shot his wife in the head and then turned the gun himself either late Wednesday or early Thursday, Shore said.
He said that “a limited autopsy” will be conducted today at 10:30 a.m.
The Pruitt Funeral Homes in Honea Path is handling the arrangements. Funeral plans were still incomplete early Friday, a spokesman said.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
