(Update 4:10 p.m.) Police released the names of a married couple involved in a possible murder-suicide. The man has been identified as Tyrone Knight and the woman as Vanessa Knight.
Oceanside police discovered the bodies of a man, 53, and woman, 46, in a residence near the Camp Pendleton San Luis Rey gate on Monday, according to a department press release.
Police responded to a call from neighbors who reported the couple had not been seen in about a week.
The couple’s decomposing bodies were found in separate rooms of a residence located in the 5100 block of North River Road. Also found on the scene was a handgun and a note dated June 24, which read that the husband had killed his wife and then himself, according to police.
The level of decomposition of the bodies was consistent with the date on the note, according to police.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of the next of kin.
