LOG CABIN, HENDERSON COUNTY (KYTX) - A 69-year-old woman is being held in the Henderson County jail with no bond for her husband's death.
Eula Kate Robinson faces a murder charge after Log Cabin police say she shot her husband just before noon.
Some of the neighbors tell me they weren't surprised to hear the man was shot.
One woman says he was aggressive and combative, even with his wife.
It didn't take long for neighbors to hear about a deadly shooting at this house.
"My husband called me and let me know what happened. I was very surprised. I was surprised that it was Ms. Kate," says Caren Hawkins, a neighbor of Kate Robinson's for several years.
She says the victim's name is James Robinson, and he and Kate moved from fort worth to the home next door.
"Ms. Kate was a wonderful lady, very sweet. Very nice, very nice lady. James was a mean man," says Hawkins.
Log Cabin police say they were called to the couple's home on Cherokee Lane just before noon Thursday for a domestic disturbance with shots fired.
"Saw a lot of police cars at that point. That's all I saw," says Ms. Curry, a neighbor across the street.
"Never been called for a domestic disturbance involving them," says Log Cabin Police Chief Wayne Nutt.
Chief Nutt arrived to find the 76-year-old man shot in the chest.
"He was always yelling, screaming, hollering at her. Threatening to hit her," says Hawkins.
Hawkins says Robinson had a hard time getting around, used a walker and an oxygen tank.
"If he did indeed go after her physically, I don't see how she could get away," says Hawkins.
When asked if she thought it would be Robinson's only option she said, "I would think so."
After police left the scene, family members arrived filled with emotion.
Just like neighbors that live on Cherokee Lane concerned about Kate's well-being.
"I did ask if Kate was ok, he said she was," says Ms. Curry.
"I'm not surprised this happened," says Hawkins.
The Log Cabin police chief has not released the name of the man.
His body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
The police chief says the last homicide in Log Cabin was in the fall of 2009.
