A 33-year-old man killed his girlfriend in Miami and stabbed himself twice, then drove to Tampa police headquarters and told officers what he had done, police say.
Alexander F. Bruzon of Miami was charged on a Miami warrant with first-degree murder.
Police say that shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, he walked into the police department's lobby with two self-inflicted stab wounds and told officers he killed his girlfriend.
He was taken to an area hospital. When released from the hospital, he will be taken to jail and later extradited to Miami.
He didn't tell officers why he drove to Tampa after killing his girlfriend and stabbing himself, but he did tell them he stopped to nap at least once along the way, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
