A Victorville man shot his estranged wife in the face Monday with three children in a nearby room before killing himself, authorities said.
Sheriff's deputies had been called to the couple's Eleventh Avenue home earlier in the day for a domestic disturbance that broke out while 44-year-old Brian Bostic was picking up some of his belongings.
The victim's 14-year-old son called 911 about 2:25 p.m. and told dispatchers that his mom had been shot by Bostic but was still awake and breathing. The woman is hospitalized at Loma Linda University Medical Center and is expected to survive.
When deputies arrived at the house Monday, they found Bostic dead in his parked pickup truck. He shot himself with a handgun, authorities said.
A family member is caring for the victim's three children - ages 3, 5 and 14 - who were in a nearby room when their mother was shot.
The couple had been separated about eight months but it is unknown what prompted the shooting.
