Revenge may be a dish best served cold, but Terry Kleiman didn't get that memo. The 32-year-old Wisconsin man has been found guilty of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's apartment while she was away, tossing her puppy in the oven, turning on the heat and leaving it there for her to find when she returned to her smoke-filled home.
According the Post-Crescent, jurors in Green Bay took about an hour to reach their decision in the case. Now Kleiman faces up to 16 years in prison on felony charges of burglary and mistreatment of animals. Sentencing is set for March 26.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
