PENN HILLS, Pa. (AP) ― Police say a Pittsburgh-area couple are dead in an apparent murder-suicide, though autopsies have yet to confirm that.
Penn Hills police Chief Howard Burton says 49-year-old William Sipper and his wife, 46-year-old Lisa Sipper, were both found dead in their garage of gunshot wounds to the head. Police went to their residence about 8 a.m. Wednesday after William Sipper's employer reported he didn't come to work.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office hasn't issued an official cause of death for either victim. That is pending autopsies scheduled for Thursday.
Police say the couple's 17-year-old son was home at the time because of a school delay. He didn't realize what happened because police say his parents sometimes went to the garage to smoke.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
