(11-11) 05:48 PST Pittsburg, Calif. (AP) --
Authorities have identified the family members they say were killed by a Pittsburg man before he took his own life as the man's wife and her elderly parents.
Police say 40-year-old Jason Aube shot and killed his wife, Cynthia Tiburcio-Aube, and his wife's 65-year-old mother and 73-year-old father early Thursday morning. The parents' names have not been released.
They say Aube contacted police and told them he had killed members of his family. He also allegedly threatened to kill himself on the call.
Pittsburg police Lt. Ron Raman says officers found four people dead inside the home after trying unsuccessfully to contact Aube when they arrived.
Aube was apparently distraught over financial problems, which included a foreclosure notice on the couple's home. Police say he posted a suicide note on Facebook before the shootings.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
