(NewsCore) - Police in Utah were investigating Saturday after a couple was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
The bodies of 46-year-old Katherine Elizabeth Head and her 56-year-old husband Robert Milton Head were found Friday night at their apartment in Midvale, Utah -- about 13 miles south of Salt Lake City -- Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal said.
A maintenance man had been asked to check on the couple by Katherine Head's mother, who had not heard from her daughter recently, and saw the bodies through a window in their apartment.
Police arrived on the scene and found a notice on the apartment door that the couple had been ordered to vacate the premises within three days.
Officers forced entry into the apartment and "both Katherine and Richard were found inside the apartment in the bedroom area," Hoyal said. "They both appeared to have suffered from apparent gunshot wounds."
Detectives are investigating their deaths as a murder-suicide. "It appears as though this was a murder-suicide, [but] the investigation is ongoing," Hoyal said.
An official cause of death has not yet been announced. Autopsy and forensic test results are pending.
