Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said 46-year-old Mark Benoit entered the pleas on Tuesday in Brockton Superior Court and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Forty-one-year-old Cindy Benoit and Sarah Benoit were found dead in bed at home March 22, 2007. Prosecutors said Mark Benoit told police he choked them with his hands because he was depressed.
Mark Benoit also cut his own neck, wrists and ankles and said he killed Sarah because he meant to kill himself. Prosecutors said he left a four-page note with his wife's body blaming her, drugs, society and the loss of two babies for his despair. The couple also had a son, then 18.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
