WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) ― Authorities in northeastern Pennsylvania say a man suspected of killing his estranged wife a year ago was found dead of an apparent suicide as a homicide charge against him was being prepared.
Luzerne County District Attorney Jackie Musto Carroll says police were planning to charge 32-year-old Brian Amrowski with criminal homicide. She says he was found dead in his parents' home as investigators were driving to a district judge's office to file the arrest warrant.
Authorities say 26-year-old Rebecca Lynn Amrowski was found dead of a gunshot wound in the couple's home on June 22, 2009. Her husband was arrested in Nevada a week later and served time on an auto theft charge until his release in December.
Musto Carroll says Amrowski was not told about the impending charge, and authorities are investigating the reason for his actions.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
