An apparent murder-suicide in Benton Harbor has two men dead.
Just before 11:30 Monday night, police received reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Columbus Street.
Once on scene, witnesses told officers 49-year-old Scott Kerlikowski of Stevensville had shot 45-year-old Timothy Morris of Benton Harbor. Kerlikowski then dragged Morris' body around to the side of the house.
Kerlikowski told witnesses he wasn't going back to jail, instead he was going to kill himself.
Police found Kerlikowski dead inside the home lying next to a gun. Morris was found dead on the side of the home with a gunshot wound to the face.
Police say Morris is the current boyfriend of the woman who lives at that home and Kerlikowski was her ex-boyfriend.
The case has been handed over to the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
