FREMONT, Calif.—Fremont police officers have shot and killed a man after they say he confronted officers with a large knife.
A Fremont police spokesman says officers responded to an apartment around 2:45 a.m. Sunday after getting call from another man who said his girlfriend's estranged husband had come to the apartment, kicked him out and was threatening the woman with a knife.
When three officers arrived at the apartment, they had to force their way in.
Spokesman Bill Veteran says once officers did get inside, the estranged husband confronted the officers with the knife.
All three officers opened fire, hitting the man several times.
Police have not released his name, but say he is a 34-year-old Newark man.
Also in the apartment at the time of incident were three young children, ages 2, 4 and 9. They were not hurt.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
