Amarillo, Texas - A possible murder-suicide in Amarillo.
Neighbors on Justin Street near Puckett Elementary school are calling the whole thing shocking... They say Kristi and Darren Moore looked and acted like a nice normal couple. But there was nothing normal about what happened here Sunday night.
The Moores were found dead inside their home Sunday night around eight, both with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head.
Family members found their bodies after becoming suspicious when they didn't show up for dinner. Police aren't labeling this a murder-suicide just yet, but they say they are not looking for any suspects outside the home.
Potter Randall Special Crimes Lt. Gary Trupe says, "We checked everything for signs of forced entry. Looked for cuts in the screen, evidence a door had been knocked in, but we didn't find anything like that."
37-year-old Darren Moore most recently worked at a local pharmacy, but up until late 2008, he was a Randall County Reserve Sheriff's Deputy.
The Sheriff says he was dismissed due to a disciplinary problem.
His wife, 40-year-old Kristi Moore, was a counselor at Tascosa High School.
If this was a murder-suicide, police aren't yet saying who pulled the trigger.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
