Homicide charges were filed Wednesday against a Milwaukee man accused of beating and stabbing his estranged wife to death.
An arrest warrant was issued for Jose Luis Discua-Bados, 29, who was charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon.
Dayana Bados was leaving for work Tuesday morning when she told her grandmother Pilar Hernandez that she was going outside to warm up her vehicle. Hernandez told authorities she heard her granddaughter say "Luis, no!" and when she looked out the window she saw Discua-Bados beating her granddaughter with a two-by-four board, according to the criminal complaint.
Hernandez ran outside and told Discua-Bados that she was going to call police. That prompted Discua-Bados to get a knife and return to Bados, who was lying on the ground near her car, and stab her repeatedly in the head, back and neck.
Hernandez told police Discua-Bados had abused her granddaughter in the past. Discua-Bados had been deported to Honduras but returned to the U.S., and that prompted Bados to fear for her safety and move in with her grandmother in a home in the 2400 block of S. 10th St., according to the complaint.
An autopsy showed Bados was stabbed a dozen times and bled to death.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
