REYNOLDSBURG, OH: Police investigating fatal shooting in Reynoldsburg

A man was shot and killed by his girlfriend Saturday morning in Reynoldsburg after what police say appeared to be a domestic violence situation. At about 10:50 a.m., Reynoldsburg police officers were called to 9148 Firstgate Drive, just east of the Licking County line, according to a Reynoldsburg police news release. The 911 call came from a mother who said her daughter, who lived at the residence, had called a friend and said she needed the police and someone with her had a gun, according to the release. When officers arrived on the scene they were met at the door by a woman and allowed entry into the house, according to the release. They discovered a man who appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Truro Township Fire Department, according to the release. The woman was taken to the Reynoldsburg police station to be interviewed, where she admitted to shooting the man, Reynoldsburg police Lt. Jim O’Neill said. Preliminary findings indicate the shooting evolved out of a domestic violence situation, according to the release. The man and the woman were in a relationship and both lived in the house, O’Neill said. They had been living in Reynoldsburg for about a month, he said. The shooting remains under investigation. The names of the man and the woman were not released Saturday.
