TROY, Mo. — A northeast Missouri man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife two days after Christmas.
Forty-one-year-old Russell Scott Faria was being held Wednesday in the Lincoln County Jail on $1 million cash-only bail.
Faria is accused of killing 42-year-old Elizabeth Faria, who was found the night of Dec. 27 in the couple's Troy home with multiple stab wounds. The husband had been taken into custody and questioned for several hours last week, but police released him without any charges.
Neighbors said Elizabeth Faria, who was known as Betsy, owned a DJ company and was being treated for cancer.
Online court records did not list an attorney for Russell Faria on Wednesday.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
