Police have issued an arrest warrant for the man they say shot two sisters in Fort Lauderdale late Saturday night, killing one and injuring his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
In a statement released today, Fort Lauderdale Police say Burnie Reed, 19, is charged with murder for shooting and killing Bianca McNair, 21, and for attempted murder of her 19-year old-sister, Chutney.
Detectives say that at about 11 p.m. on January 21 a fight broke out between Chutney and Reed in the street in front of their home in the 1100 block of NW 11th Street.
“Believing her younger sister was in grave danger, Bianca ran out to the street in hopes of intervening,” read the statement from police.
“Seething with rage, Reed brandished a firearm and shot Bianca in the head from a short distance away,” it continued.
After seeing her sister shot, police say the younger sister took off running but Reed chased her down and shot her in the head.
Bianca was pronounced dead at Broward General Medical Center while Chutney was treated for injuries.
Police consider Reed armed and dangerous and say that since the shooting they’ve been informed that he has threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and her family.
They are urging anyone with information to contact detective Jack DiCristofalo at 954-828-6096 or detective Mark Breen at 954-828-5708.
