ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Police say a man who held officers at bay in a western Pennsylvania home was later found dead of an apparent fall down a staircase.
Officers in Beaver County answered a domestic dispute call at the Aliquippa home at about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Davis says an emergency team entered the home at about 6 p.m. Wednesday and found 46-year-old Rodney Harper of Pittsburgh dead at the bottom of stairs to the second floor.
Police Chief Andre Davis says a woman was outside but a man indoors threatened an officer who tried to enter.
Officers later heard a loud thump they believed might be the man trying to barricade the door.

Davis said several beer cans and empty whiskey bottles were found. An autopsy is planned. No one else was injured.
