LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A judge has set a half-million bond for the Louisville man charged with raping and killing a woman late Sunday in the city's west end.
Anthony Michael Politi pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, rape and sodomy Tuesday morning.
Detectives say he was with the victim, identified by the coroner's office as 45-year-old Edwina Cook Adkins, of Louisville, at his home at 16th and West Kentucky Sunday night.
Officers say they believe the two were having sex, but at some point the victim asked Politi to stop.
That's when police say Politi raped and sodomized her before choking her to death.
Police were able to arrest Politi because he was still at the home when officers arrived.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
