A "check on the well-being" request to Tulsa Police reveals an apparent murder-suicide at a home near Expo Square.
Police were called to a house near 2400 South Marion Street about nine last night.
Tulsa Police Captain Travis Yates says the dead woman's sister got a letter from the woman yesterday.
"It was a 47-year old female that said that, because of pending separation from her husband and family problems, she was going to kill her 12-year old daughter and herself."
Yates says when officers arrived, they couldn't get anyone to come to the door.
"Officers went inside the residence and unfortunately located two bodies in one of the bedrooms."
Yates says it appears the victims were shot at the scene within the last 24 to 48 hours.
"The letter was mailed, obviously. It took some time for the letter to get to the home. The home was here local, though."
Their names have not been released.
Yates says the daughter was found in bed in her pajamas, so police believe the shootings happened at night or early in the day.
Yates says police want people to know that life can absolutely be difficult for all, but there is hope out there and there are people that want to help and there are services that can help.
He says police want to do all they can to get people help before it comes to something tragic like this.
