ROEBUCK, S.C. -- A 54-year-old Spartanburg County man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for stabbing a rival to death last year.
WYFF-TV reports ( http://bit.ly/p6LYEI) Friday that a jury found Michael Anthony Rogers of Roebuck guilty of voluntary manslaughter following a three-day trial.
Rogers killed 42-year-old John William Ryan on Nov. 12, 2010, in Ryan's home. Deputies say they found Ryan lying on his living room floor with three stab wounds. He died at a local hospital.
Investigators say Rogers hid the knife under the dryer.
Rogers testified that he stabbed Ryan during a fight over a girl.
Prosecutor Danny Fulmer says if it was a simple disagreement, Rogers could have walked away.
He must serve 80 percent of his sentence before he's eligible for parole.
