NEW PORT RICHEY --
A Port Richey man is set to stand trial today in the June 2010 beating death of his wife.
Damian Ficarra, 56, faces up to life in prison if found guilty on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of his 53-year-old wife, Michelle.
Attorneys spent Monday selecting six jurors to decide the case, which could continue through Friday.
Michelle Ficarra's adult son, Shane McCarthy, discovered his mother's body taped to a moving dolly in the garage of the Ficarras' home at 8602 Green St. She had suffered a lethal blow to the left side of the head.
McCarthy had tried contacting his mother for two days only to have Damian Ficarra tell him she was sleeping, authorities said.
McCarthy finally went to the house June 24, 2010, and found his mother's body.
When police arrived they found Damian Ficarra in the backyard, where a neighbor had seen him hiding under a tarp, authorities said.
"You're next. I'm coming for you next," Ficarra yelled to the neighbor, according to a police report.
Neighbors said the Ficarras had a stormy relationship and often could be heard yelling at each other.
In April 2010, Damian Ficarra was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, but prosecutors dismissed the charge six months later.
