SAN ANTONIO – A deadly shooting on the Northwest Side this morning led to a suicide as police closed in on the shooter. The incident happened at a home on Oakhill Drive across from the Ingram Ranch Apartment Complex.
San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus tells us the victim was visiting her daughter to check on the house while she was at work. The suspected shooter is the mother’s husband (or possibly ex-husband). Using his own vehicle, he pinned her car in the driveway and opened fire. She was hit three times in the stomach, and was rushed to the hospital by EMS. She later died from her wounds.
Police cornered the suspected shooter on at 5700 block of IH-410 in the parking lot of a bank. Instead of surrendering, the suspected decided to shoot himself in the head. He died instantly.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
