Everett, MA: Ex-boyfriend arrested, charged in brutal slay of Everett stripper

The jilted lover of a slain Everett stripper was charged yesterday with stabbing his ex-girlfriend 33 times last week and dumping her bloody body on the concrete entryway to her apartment, authorities said.

Antonio Marcos Ferreira, 38, of Somerville was arrested in Charlestown yesterday about 4 p.m. near his car, packed with clothes and his passport, indicating he intended to run, said Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone.

He is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Malden District Court on a first-degree murder charge.

“He had all of his belongings including his Brazilian passport inside his motor vehicle, and he had left his Somerville address,” Leone said. “If the arrest was not made today he may have fled the area.”

Sheila dos Santos, 26, of Everett was a stripper at Club Alex’s in Stoughton, where she had danced for the past two years. On Oct. 2, investigators said she left work about 1 a.m. and drove home. Her body was found about 4:30 a.m. by a maintenance man.

Leone said investigators checked surveillance cameras in and around Santos’ building, interviewed neighbors and relatives of the dead woman and used cell phone records to re-create the final hours of the slain woman’s life and to follow Ferreira’s trail the day Santos was killed.

Family members told investigators the pair met through mutual friends and dated for about a year. Leone said while she told her sisters she was concerned about his recent efforts to rekindle the relationship, there is no record that she complained to police about him or sought a restraining order in the weeks leading up to the attack.

“Up until about 9 months ago they had dated for about a year and she had broken off the relationship,” Leone said. “She’s been rejecting advances from him for several months now. It was the rejection of those advances that led to her death.”
