Danielson, Conn. —
A Plainfield man is facing 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder in the 2007 stabbing death of his former girlfriend.

Roger A. Fenner, 46, entered guilty pleas to the charges of murder and risk of injury to a minor at a court appearance Wednesday in Danielson Superior Court, records show.

The plea comes prior to the start of a trial set to begin before year’s end. Defense attorney Kimberly Colfer said the plea agreement with state prosecutors is for a maximum of 50 years in prison and a right to argue for less time at sentencing on Dec. 11.

Fenner has been in prison since his Jan. 12, 2007 arrest in the murder of Laurie A. Courtemarche. Courtemarche was a devoted mother of three who worked both as a waitress at Mohegan Sun and bartender at the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Moosup.
